A Belikin

What will be handed to you when you ask for “a beer” in Belize. It is the right thing to drink there. We only buy this in rounds, not singles, and it is therefore a de facto sign of camaraderie. We wish it were available in the States.

This is typical: the Belikin is handed to you, opened by a friend.

The bottle is exceptionally heavy. That way, you’re never quite sure that you’re done. But out of nowhere, the bottles are empty, and there is a mad scramble to produce the first $5 BZE for the next round. Served best with a palm tree.

Thoughts, sir/madam?
